In my quest to watch everything that Disney+ has to offer, I have recently completed a compilation of short stories written and produced by new faces as well as seasoned creators who have worked on big projects like Coco, Soul, Beauty and the Beast, etc.
The following reviews are my personal opinion and of course, may not be the same as others. I am curious as to what other people thought about these shorts and would love to discuss.
Puddles: 5/5
This was such a cute story. It made me think about how you miss the magic of the world when distracted by technology.
Exchange Student: 4/5
New schools can make you feel like you’re on another planet. Stay true to yourself, celebrate your differences, and a true friend will accept you for who you are.
Lucky Toupee: 4/5
Are the leprechauns a metaphor for time and how it can be a thief? It takes our young bodies (i.e. hair), but it also shows that we are all in the same boat.
Just A Thought: 4/5
I almost cried with happiness at the idea that those cute kids end up together.
Cycles: 5/5
What a cool medium to use to tell a story!
Lightning In A Bottle: 5/5
I see the metaphor but I also see a great story.
The Race: 4/5
Death is neither good nor bad, just a fact of life.
Hair-Jitsu: 4/5
I used to cry if they cut more than an inch.
Downtown: 3/5
We can find beauty anywhere.
Jing Hua: 5/5
I love the style of animation. This short expressed so much emotion.
Drop: 4/5
What a lovely thought. They do say water holds memories.
Zenith: 5/5
Gorgeous animation.
Elephant In the Room: 4/5
God, just make me an emotional wreck.
Fetch: 5/5
Children are just little packages of joy.
Crosswalk: 5/5
Nothing in life should hold you back, unless of course it is a crosswalk sign.
Going Home: 5/5
In a world that is changing, some things stay the same, our memories.
No. 2 to Kettering: 4/5
A smile to a stranger is free.
Dinosaur Barbarian: 3/5
It’s giving early 90s.
Songs To Sing In the Dark: 5/5
I love this.
Reflect: 4/5
Off-handed comments can fracture our self-image.
I genuinely enjoyed watching these shorts and I also learned that it takes so much more work for such a small amount of screen time.
